Garments Slavery as Rehabilitation From Sex Work

This film made by Vice News looks at how anti-trafficking campaigns in Cambodia, supposedly born of a concern to ‘rescue’ women in sex work actually forces them into unpaid work with far worse conditions- garments production.

Sex workers are routinely attacked by violent police crackdowns and forced to work in sweatshops for no wages as part of their rehabilitation. The English Collective of Prostitutes heard similar stories from sex work organisations, academics and others in their recent symposium which looked at the evidence for decriminalization from across the world.
